How much do allies pay for U.S. troops? A lot more than Donald Trump says

This article discusses the Defense Department's spending and the fact that other countries, like Japan, usually have to negotiate a price that they will pay the US in order to maintain US troops on their land.  This money goes towards housing as well as the wages of Japanese workers needed to maintain the infrastructure and the troops at the base.  Considering our discussion last week I find it interesting that a major candidate does not have a good understanding of our defense budget.  This being said I was also unaware of this aspect to our defense budget.  I find it fascinating and overwhelming to look at all the layers to our budgets and the negotiating that goes behind all international dealings.  As the election heats up I believe these topics will become more relevant in the conversation and certain candidates will show their inexperience in foreign affairs.
