A leak occurred last Friday in which Clinton was speaking on Bernie Sanders supporters to donors. Clinton spoke of the polarization of the country, describing the far right as "populist, xenophobic, and discriminatory" while exclaiming that Bernie supporters wanted the United States to look more like Scandinavia (such as free education and healthcare). Although Clinton sympathizes with Sanders supporters in the clip, she takes the stance of Sanders supporters being idealistic. This comes after her announcement of her college plan, which intends to remove tuition for public universities.
This released clip does not bode well for Hillary Clinton with her reputation as being untruthful and establishment. Clinton has repeatedly tried to appeal to young voters who were rallying around Sanders due to his authenticity. With these comments made by Secretary Clinton, it further pushes the narrative of Clinton being a panderer. Clinton will say whatever she can to get people to vote for her. When she talks to the donors, she appeals as a moderate alternative to the polarizing options in today's political sphere. When she talks to young voters, to appear as anti-establish, she will announce a college plan to reduce student debt.
