Brooklyn Lawsuit Could Affect the Fate of Millions of Immigrants Nationwide

Martin Batalla Vidal is a Mexican citizen and undocumented immigrant holding a myriad of jobs within New York. He also has a plaintiff suing the federal government; the United States Citzenship and Immigration Services took his work permit due to the Deferred Action for Childhood (DACA). Vidal is the first undocumented worker to challenge the immigration plan, claiming that the DACA ruling in Texas should not influence New York.

DACA is important to the work force as it allows undocumented immigrants to work in the United States for up to three years, allowing over five million undocumented immigrants to work and avoid deportation. However according to the Texas ruling, the permit is shortened to two years.

The one year reduce revoked 2,600 DACA recipients in the United States, affecting scholarships and other arrangements that revolved around the three year time period.
