Last Monday, Hillary Clinton retracted her statement about Donald Trump Supporters after categorizing 1/2 of Donald Trump supporters as "Deplorables". Hillary Clinton defined deplorable as Sexist, Racist, Homophobic or xenophobic before back-peddling and apologizing for the comment.
When both candidates are attempting to show a connection with the American people, it seems that the only way for them to do it is to demonize the other side. Clinton's comment further pushes the agenda of slandering those who disagree and inciting those to name-call in order to come about resolution. Clinton already had issues connecting with Middle America, particularly White Middle Class families. This comment furthered the divide between the two, with Trump airing Ads condemning the comments made by Clinton. It angers me to see Clinton categorize a group of people she knows very little about. Although there are members of people voting for Trump who have bigoted views, a large portion of Trump voters are average Americans angered by the Political System and politicians. I believe these comments will have negative consequences in the future for Clinton, much like the comment made by Mitt Romney in 2012 about 47% of Americans.
